About the Journal

The Asian Journal of Engineering Geology (AJEG), published by the Nepal Society of Engineering Geology (NSEG), is envisioned as a specialized platform dedicated to advancing the understanding and application of engineering geology within the unique geological context of Asia, with a particular emphasis on contributions from and relevant to Himalaya as well as other parts of world.

In recent years, research on engineering geology and related topics has been significantly advancing, but there are only a few specialized platforms for research publications. There is greater need of knowledge transfer and research result dissemination among the engineering geological researchers through specialized publications. This situation is especially the case among engineering geologists in Asia working in the fields of engineering geology and related topics. To overcome this problem, the NSEG is initiating a new scientific journal entitled “Asian Journal of Engineering Geology (AJEG)". NSEG believes that geoscientists, environmentalists, and engineers involved in landslide and environmental research will have access to a new common platform for the publication of their research work. NSEG is confident that, with this journal, stakeholders working in the Himalayan landslide and environmental and surrounding area will also get up-to-date information on engineering geology and related research work in the region and other parts of the world.

AJEG, under the auspices of the NSEG, places a primary focus on research and developments in engineering geology that are specific to Asia and the broader to other parts of the world. The journal will serve as a key resource for disseminating knowledge on geological challenges and engineering solutions that are pertinent to diverse terrain and seismic activity in the region.

The journal encourages the submission of research articles and case studies that delve into the engineering geology challenges. Contributions may explore topics such as slope stability, earthquake hazards, landslides, and the geological aspects of infrastructure development in the region.

AJEG seeks to foster collaboration among researchers, engineers, and geologists within Asia and the broader to other parts of the world. The journal will actively engage with regional experts to contribute their insights, experiences, and research findings, promoting a collective approach to addressing engineering geology challenges. Recognizing the interdisciplinary nature of engineering geology, AJEG welcomes submissions that integrate geological, geotechnical, and environmental perspectives. The goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the geological factors influencing engineering projects and environmental sustainability.

The journal will feature updates and reports on initiatives, conferences, and activities organized by the Nepal Society of Engineering Geology. This ensures that the journal is not only a repository of research but also a hub for the exchange of ideas and information within the engineering geology community in Nepal.

Aims and Scope

These topics suggest a multidisciplinary approach, encompassing various aspects of geology and engineering that have practical applications in fields such as environmental management, land planning, and geotechnical engineering.

Publication program

There are two Issues of the Asian Journal of Engineering Geology (AJEG) each year. It is an refereed journal dedicated to publishing the latest advancements in different areas of engineering geology. The AJEG is published as free open access online journal. The Nepal Society of Engineering Geology believes that an open access online publication attracts a worldwide audience and thus increases the visibility and impact of published works. It also enhances indexing in many online search engines. Scholars from all relevant academic fields are invited to submit high-quality manuscripts that describe the latest, state-of-the-art research results or innovations in engineering geology and related topics. AJEG accepts both individual and organizational contributions covering the research topics listed in the aim and scope of the journal.

Calls for papers are announced in the journal homepage and also in online social media. The first volume and first issue of the Journal will be published on July 2024.

Authorship Guidelines

Authorship is a privilege reserved for individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, implementation, or interpretation of the reported study. Those who contributed meaningfully but did not meet these criteria should be duly acknowledged or identified as contributors. The final manuscript has received approval and consent for submission from all co-authors, ensuring their collective review.

In cases where the article is a collaborative effort, the submitting author affirms that they have been authorized by all co-authors to accept the terms of the copyright and license notice on their behalf. The submitting author also commits to informing their co-authors about the terms outlined in this policy.

It is important to note that the journal disclaims responsibility for any internal disputes among authors. Communication will be exclusively conducted with the corresponding author designated for the submission.
