Nepal's rivers begin in some of the youngest and most active mountains on Earth. This sets them apart from most river systems and also makes them dangerous in ways that are becoming harder to ignore. This presentation examines how sediments Nepal's rivers from the Koshi,Gandaki, Karnali, Mahakali systems down to the Ganges and the Bay of Bengal, and how climate change is reshaping that movement. Nepal's rivers still carry most of their natural sediment load, but the pattern of transport is changing. Instead of a steady, seasonal flow tied to the monsoon, we are seeing more sudden extreme events driven by glacier collapse and slope failure.
