This study investigates recent ostracods as indicators of paleoenvironmental conditions and present-day water quality in the southeastern Bay of Bengal. Thirteen sediment samples from Cox’s Bazar and the Maheshkhali Channel were analyzed, yielding 57 ostracod shells from seven families. Species abundance, particularly in beach and inner-shelf settings, along with carapace-to-valve ratios, provides insight into sedimentation rates and environmental conditions. Findings support applications in coastal monitoring, marine biodiversity assessment, and paleoclimate reconstruction.
